Cabinet View Golf Club

Spring in Kootenai Country Montana brings rain followed by sunbursts and chirping birds. On a bench that sits below one of the best views of the Cabinet Mountain’s high peaks is Cabinet View Golf Course. The quiet roads leading into the serene setting are named after peaks visible from the club grounds including Bockman, Snowshoe, and Sugarloaf.
As spring renews all life, elk are seen grazing on the greens. White tailed deer and wild turkeys mix and feed, and a big gobbler spooks a young deer. A red fox skirts the timbered edge where a cow moose has recently passed by. A red tailed hawk perches in a snag, watching for jumping mice, as an eagle flies over one of the ponds. Cabinet View golf course is an 18-hole; par 72-course with a practice green and driving range. It plays 6600-yards from the blue tees. The front nine is a mature, older course featuring wide fairways bordered by large, majestic evergreens. The back nine is special! It was built in 2007 and has matured beautifully. Challenging water hazards border and cross the undulating fairways which weave through clumps of forage, and co-mingle with large pines. Lost golf balls dot the nooks and crannies and are a testament to the challenging layout.
The regular golf season runs from May 1 to September 30. Two "Value" seasons are also available, March 1 to April 30 and October 1 to October 31. Club pro, Jeff Dooley, keeps busy year round with fundraising tournaments for local organizations — mens, ladies and junior leagues — as well as teaching clinics. Libby High School plays host to numerous high school tournaments and invitationals at CVGC.
Long summer days of extended daylight beckon local golfers after a long day’s work. Call early to reserve a tee time. The popular “19th hole” features a full bar, concession stand and fully equipped pro shop. Club and cart rental are available. For availability and additional information, you may email Jeff Dooley (director of golf) at pro@golflibby.com or call (406) 293-7332.
